The inhumanity of religious fanatics
Seven Muslims in the UK are on trial for planning terrorists attacks on their fellow citizens in the name of their vile beliefs. These men had the materials gathered for their bomb and were trying to contact the Russian mafia to see if they could buy something far more deadly.
In a discussion, that was taped by police, Jawad Akbar discussed whether they should blow up a large nightclub in London, a place guaranteed to kills many innocent people. Akbar had no problem with this: "The biggest nightclub in central London, no one can put their hands up and say they are innocent -- those slags dancing around."
Get how these fundamentalists see life. No one in the nightclub is innocent because they are dancing! Thus they are guilty and it's okay to kill them.
Another suspect in the trial was heard saying how he wished the terrorist bombing in Spain had taken place during the holidays to kill more families. Not enough children died to make him happy.
Once people believe they are acting on behalf of a god they are capable of anything.

Was this another one of those long pot sessions you bragged about in another post? I do not rail agains the war on terror when terrorists are the target. I rail against the attacks by the Bush administration on the civil liberties of citizens, I rail against its jihad against gays, I rail against a war that I think only made terror more likely and a region of the world less stable.
That one is against something bad as in Bush beging against terror does NOT mean that the methods he has chosen to fight the bad thing are good. Those are separate questions.

Does it bother you I smoke pot? With the anger issues that seem to possess you you might try it sometime.
Name one American that has been a target or has lost their civil rights. Your hyperbole makes for good drama but it is void of truth.
What jihad against gays are you referring to?
How did going to war in Iraq increase terrorism? If anything it has contained it and made the roaches raise their demonic little heads so we can remove them easier.
you cannot put the actions of the jihadist terrorists over the last 40 years in the lap of Bush. He just happens to be the first to act upon what has been neeed to be done for many years.
I suppose you'd propose we talk them into playing nice.

Many Americans lost their rights. What about the right that was taken for granted that one could travel without having to produce your papers. Now you can't. Federal agents, nasty and unpleasant ones prevent you from getting on any plane without ID. You can't drive without it. Walk, maybe, unless they demand it and then if you don't produce it you can be arrested. I took a bus rather than fly and the Feds stopped the bus well within US borders and went from person to person demanding to see their papers to prove their identification. A women in Denver (I think, I read the news at the time but didn't file it away) was on a public bus. The Feds stop it and go from person to person demanding ID. She was on her cell at the time and said she was. The agent grabbed the phone and threw against the back of the bus. Screamed at her and grabbed this older woman by the arm and dragged her off the bus and arrested her. Because she didn't produce her "papers please" when demanded. The well known case of the American citizen, born in the US, who Bush declared an "enemy combatant". The man was held in prison (and still is) for years with no charges filed, he was forbidden access to an attorney. His case is still going on but they were finally able to force the govt to let him see an attorney. I came back to the US (my mistake) and went to open a noninterest bearing account. But what used to take me a few minutes to do took 20 minutes due to the Patriot Act and I failed. They sent someone by my home to see if I really lived there because the Patriot Act requires them to check up on people. They took all these fees to open the account and then said they would only do AFTER I got a letter from the Federal Government confirming my social security number. That was a number which, when I got it, said "not to be used for identification purposes". Now the Feds force it on infants before they leave the hospital at birth. They have imposed a national ID system on the American people and no one seems to notice. I flew into the US after living outside the country and had to fill out forms as to what money I owned! And no doubt will have to do the same when I leave.

The last time I flew in the US I went through three airports all of which do this. Surely you know this is a fact of life. In fact even with a one hour layover my luggage couldn't get through security in time to make it. When I arrived at the local airport they called me on the intercom to tell me the luggage did not arrive. And I just blew up made a remark about how the "bloody Nazis" have screwed up air travel. At first he clerk was a bit surprised and then stuck his hand out wanting to shake mine because: "It's about time somebody say what it's like. I deal with these people every day and that is precisely what they are."

I've had my privacy treaded on and have been pulled out of line many times but their dilligence doesn't bother me a bit. We live in strange times and some sacrifices are required. I feel just as put out as you but what are going to do? Move to Detrioit?

It is more than a privacy issue here. I don't believe there is a right to privacy. What it amounts to is different. It amounts to an internal passport regulating your ability to travel. It is the old Soviet system of no one moving from area to area without the proper government documents. Move? Absolutely. Shortly. Out of the US but for the sake of anonymity I won't say where. But, yes, I am leaving the US. I would hope not for good but unless the US changes I don't want to come back. It's not that I won't miss my country. But my country disappeared already. It's gone.
